On our review console only a couple of games had this filled in.īack of the Vega+ with the serial number and QR code obscured. There is a field labelled “hint” where the game designer can insert tips, tricks or explanations of gameplay. The top right button (pictured above with a splodge of red paint on it) brings up the Game Info menu. That it was delivered in this state at all suggests that it was rushed out of the door to buy RCL’s management some breathing space in their ongoing corporate woes rather than with any regard for consumer experience. While the main menu has an option to “remap game keys”, this is not the state a finished product should be delivered in. The first thing we noticed was that some of the games have not had their keys mapped to the Vega+’s controls.
We could not tell if it charged while the unit was powered off. While charging, the screen maintains maximum brightness. The unit appears to power off at random intervals if you leave it alone for long enough, which may or may not be a power saving function ours powered on again afterwards with no apparent problems. This emulator is based on the source code of Q-emuLator, a shareware QL emulator for Windows, but the Unix version is freeware and has been updated more recently than the Windows version. This is a patched version of the JS ROM to allow 4 Megabytes of emulated RAM. These ROMs are needed to run the emulator. There are no plans on emulating stuff like the disk drives, hard drives, video cards, etc, but it's still a good emulator, try it. This is a freeware Sinclair QL emulator that emulates all the original I/O of the original QL, and it can access files directly on from your HD. X Server with MIT-SHM extention and Motif 1.2 (at development was used LessTif) are also required. Currently it requires an IBM PC compatible computer. The emulation is extremely accurate and there are many features, including savestates, joystick, and TAP tape file support.You need the SDL library to run this.
